EXECUTIVE CARE OF FAIRFIELD COUNTY WITH BROOKDALE SENIOR LIVING: WILTON, CT
WHAT: Executive Care of Fairfield County is partnering with Brookdale Senior Living of Wilton, Connecticut to teach early and late-stage seniors how to self-downsize with Object Therapy Bingo! Self-downsizing is important not only for the senior’s health and wellbeing but also for the children and grandchildren of the senior. There are many services that do it for you yet they do not know the life of the object. Elanit Linder believes that every mid-life stage object has its own history and life story. She will teach you how to explore the history of the object and decide whether to gift it, donate it or toss it in the trash.
Executive Care knows how important it is for many people to age in place. Executive Care assists skilled and independent long term care communities as well as people with homecare needs. With six awards from Home Care Pulse including both Provider and Employer of Choice, their team boasts care professionals who have been in the industry over twenty years and have practiced direct care.
Self-downsizing is a practice of realistic minimalism that can be accomplished by everyone at any age. Elanit Linder’s Columbia University research on materialism not being the driving force of happiness recognizes the individual’s need for autonomy as part of the aging process. This step by step Object Therapy Bingo! uses both Marie Kondo’s book the life-changing magic of tidying up and Elanit’s own work Stitches for Seniors to help seniors maintain their autonomy and self determined choices as they age in their home.
At the end of this one-hour session everyone will have the skills to roll up their sleeves and start tidying up!
